Pan Pastels-Hearts

This is a project from Donna Downey's class at Spark that I had not had a chance to finish up, that is until today :)  It was a great class with her & I learned SO much more about Pan Pastels.  I was apprehensive since I had tried at home & did not like what I had done.  But she really understands this medium and give you lots of great tips on its use.  Thanks!! I REALLY like how "on fire" the background feels.  Just like LoVe can!!

Watercolors!!!

I was  so inspired by Donna Downey's Inspiration Wednesday video this week!  What really intrigued me was the product she used to turn ordinary paper into a surface that would take watercolors -- Golden Absorbent Ground.  Then I went on the hunt for it. Found it. My Mom has long called poppies "such happy little flowers" and Donna used them in her video I thought, let me give this a try - but on canvas! I was leery at first because I didnt want to make a mistake but then I remembered in art, there are no mistakes! And I WENT FOR IT!  I love how it turned out.  I had this GREAT frame that I picked up on clearance for $1!(yes $1!!) and my happy lil flowers look so pretty it in! Cannot wait to try another canvas! This GOLDEN product is AWESOME!

She Art - Angel Done!

I was able to do some crafting today & it was AWESOME to get into my cave for a lil bit. I finished the details on the She Art Angel (my 1st angel) I made at Spark class taught by a fav of mine, Christy Tomlinson!! I really liked using the bright colors-which I do not use much-and I like the final product! Plus, my 1st time using a 6x12 deep canvas.  Likey!  Oh, by the way, used Sharpie Retractable I posted about & they were LOVELY to work with!! ~Seek Balance!

Shirt I Made! - Reverse Applique

I am in LUV with this shirt!! I learned the technique at Spark in Amy Tangerine's class! It was such FuN! I am going to make shirts for Christmas gifts & maybe who knows what else.  It is a great fall craft to do & the possibilities are endless as to what you can use this technique on!

New Fav Pen!!

For my gal Dana - this one's for you! ;)
When I was at Spark in Christy Tomlinson's class a lady commented the Sharpie Retractable pen works just as well on canvas covered in Mod Podge as the Pilot Permaball(which is now discontinued).  I was surprised since I had tried a fine point Sharpie & it would not write on the canvas.  It seemed to dry out.
So I bought a 2pk & gave it a go......WOW!! To my surprise it works BEAUTIFULLY!!!  :) OHH!! This is going to be a new FAV! You can see on the canvas where I outlined the wings - that is the Sharpie Retractable. Just make sure it is the retractable pen.  The traditional do not work.  Need to work on this canvas more so pics to come soon.
